What is PANSA?
PANSA is a national network of individuals, companies and institutions that are engaged in the performing arts. PANSA is not a union; it is a national grouping of those who directly or indirectly make their living, or part of it, within the performing arts.
What is the role of PANSA?
The mission of PANSA is stated in one of its constitutional objectives i.e. "to provide a national forum and organisational base for performing arts practitioners (singers, actors, dancers, musicians, etc), creative artists working with the performing arts field (writers, directors, composers, choreographers, etc), technical and stage workers, designers, administrators, educators, organisations, institutions and service providers to debate, set an agenda and act in their respective and collective interests within the performing arts."
How is PANSA structured?
In each province, PANSA has or will establish a branch with members who subscribe to the aims and Code of Conduct of the organisation. These members elected a Provincial Steering Committee to run the affairs of the organisation in the province. The Provincial Chairperson represents the province on the National Steering Committee (NSC) that meets at least twice per year to coordinate the affairs of the organisation. The NSC is elected at the Annual General Meeting of members from all the provinces.
Who may be members of PANSA?
PANSA is open to all those who make their living (or part thereof) from being engaged in some aspect of the performing arts. This includes individuals, companies, institutions, festivals, unions, managements and the like.
How does one join PANSA?
By completing the membership application form, agreeing to the Code of Conduct and paying the annual membership fee (it varies for students, individuals and organisations), anyone who is eligible may join PANSA. They will be members in the province in which they are located.
