
THEATRE MANAGEMENTS OF SOUTH AFRICA
Is a nationwide umbrella Association of
Theatre Producers, Promoters, Managers and Owners.
The TMSA's aims are:
- To raise the profile and entrench the value and status of the Performing Arts in South Africa, to enable us to take our place as a major player, fully representative of the professional cultural face of live entertainment in Southern Africa.
- To enrol every Theatre Management in Southern Africa.
- To foster and encourage the development of new managements.
- To exchange and share information between all members.
- To develop audiences, through a shared marketing strategy.
- To promote and protect growth and diversity of theatre producers, promoters and managers.
- To monitor, debate and lobby for or against laws and other regulations affecting the live theatre.
- To formulate a code of ethics to ensure that integrity, dignity, honesty and fair play prevail in the theatre industry and profession.
- To negotiate terms of employment in South African Theatre, and to formulate and regulate policy regarding the relationship between members and their employees.
- To seek to facilitate resolutions of disputes in theatrical matters.
- To obtain legal advice to assist members to conduct their businesses in accordance with legislation and theatre practice.
- To establish and support industry social welfare programmes.
- To establish liaison with training organisations, community theatre initiatives, government structures and funding institutions.
- To accredit all members both in Southern Africa and Internationally as professional of good standing, status and integrity.
